Emilie Fife is the founder and mediator at Fife Family Mediation. Her career began as a legal assistant, where she gained firsthand experience supporting individuals and families during some of the most challenging periods of their lives. Through this work, she developed a deep appreciation for the importance of active listening, empathy, and clear communication when helping people navigate difficult decisions and conflict.
While working within the legal system, Emilie recognized that many separating couples were looking for an alternative path, one that focused on collaboration rather than confrontation. She saw a growing need for family mediation services that empower parents and families to make their own decisions, rather than placing those decisions in the hands of the courts. She understands that many families are seeking a process that is more affordable, efficient, and family-focused than traditional litigation.
Emilie holds a Master of Industrial Relations from Queen's University, where her studies focused extensively on negotiation, conflict resolution, collective bargaining, and arbitration. She also earned an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Wilfrid Laurier University, providing her with valuable insight into human behaviour, communication, and relationships.
She has completed her Family Mediation Certification through Herzing College and is an Associate Member of the Ontario Association for Family Mediation (OAFM).
As the eldest of six children, Emilie has spent much of her life helping people find common ground and work through disagreements. Today, she combines her professional training, academic background, and passion for helping families to guide clients through separation and co-parenting discussions with compassion, respect, and a focus on practical solutions.
Emilie's goal is to help families create a clear path forward—one that prioritizes their children's well-being, preserves important relationships where possible, and allows families to move into the next chapter of their lives with confidence.
